Sustainable Communities Mentorship Programme
his innovative programme offers training and support to individuals in Scotland who want to inspire their own communities to take action on Sustainability and Climate Change. The BTCV Scotland Sustainable Communities Mentorship Programme continues to develop a network of Sustainable Community Mentors throughout Scotland through a series of regional training and support programmes. Since May 2009, we’ve trained 80 Sustainable Communities Mentors throughout Scotland. Here’s what they thought about the programme:
'The workshop was fantastic, it inspired me to have a go and made me realise that I can make a difference'
'Highly motivating, I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to take environmental action'
'Excellent - every environment or sustainability group should attend. I got loads of ideas and practical advice'
'Got me thinking about the other changes I could make in my life and community to make the world a better place'
The programme starts with a 2 day training workshop which will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to raise awareness about Sustainability and communicate Climate Change in their own communities. Participants work on developing their own unique skills, producing Action Plans for their communities and learning tools to take forward practical Community Projects to improve the local environment and take action for a more sustainable planet.
After the workshop, participants receive ongoing support from local BTCV Scotland staff, resources and access to national and local skills sharing and networking events.
The following regional Sustainable Communities Mentors Workshops are planned in 2011. The workshops are free, but places are limited so please book early.
Inverness: 26 & 27 May (Please register by 20 May 2011)
